The Iowa Grocery Industry Association recently coordinated a guest editorial column that was sent to The Des Moines Register clarifying the real issue behind debit card swipe fees. The IGIA submitted the editorial on behalf of its membership and gained support from the Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Stores of Iowa and Iowa Retail Federation.

The column, which appeared in The Des Moines Register on Tuesday, June 15, can be read online at www.desmoinesregister.com. It brings clarity to the issue of interchange fees and why Congress is trying to make them "reasonable and proportional" through the Durbin Amendment.
